This particular blog will serve as the central hub for students in Forman's Early Childhood Education winterim to share their daily comments and images chronicling their Winterim 2019 experience.
Please feel free to contact me with any winterim-related questions, ideas or concerns.
Thanks and enjoy!
In Early Childhood Education, students learn about the developmental stages from birth to age five, concentrating on pre-school ages. Then they apply that knowledge by volunteering at Head Start in Torrington, for eight days as teacher’s assistants. This Winterim will give students valuable insight about understanding and dealing with young children, whether preparing for a career of teaching young children or interested to learn/practice proper parenting skills for the future.

Good afternoon, Early Childhood Education parents & friends-
ReplyDeleteToday, after the winterim classes end, students will meet in the VPAC at 3:30pm before then meeting with their select spring sport team, who are presently on campus. Typically the teams will work out for an hour or so per day. Then, there's dinner followed by "free time" from 6:30-9:25pm with check-in to the dorms at 9:30pm every night. Last but not least, please see the posted blog with the Early Childhood Education's daily itinerary for the next two weeks.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Ben Bartlett and Elaine Zullo
I am very excited to be spending these two weeks working with kids!

ReplyDeleteI had an amazing first day at HeadStart! One of my favorite parts of the day was at the end of the day when all the kids gathered on the carpet to dance to the “Gummy Bear Song.” Almost all the kids were in a circle holding hands and dancing to the music.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to creating a different type of bond with each kid. I am hoping to make the kids feel comfortable in school and for the to have fun while learning and for them to feel safe. My favorite part was meeting the kids and dancing with hem
ReplyDeleteI loved hanging out and playing with the kids I really enjoyed it
ReplyDeleteI had a great first day at head start! As soon as I walked in the classroom all of the kids were so happy to see us and all cake up to give us hugs. My favorite part of the day was getting to play with them and do gross motor skills. It was a lot of fun and really educational. I can’t wait to see what else this week has in store.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed today. I enjoyed playing with the kids and reading to them. There were about 12 kids in the room. My favourite thing was reading to some of the kids.

ReplyDeleteI noticed that the kids were all very excited to see us. I worked in the classroom with lily. It was a pretty big class and it was pretty equal between girls and boys. There were 3 teachers that class room. There were different sections of the room. Like one art was for arts and crafts, one for “cooking and much more!!!
I loved watching the kids in Room to Grow. They were so cute and very fun to play with. I read to them and played with toys and it was very fun and enjoyable
ReplyDeleteThe first day of Early Childhood was taking a tour of Head start and signing documents. I was kind of nervous because we had to sign a lot of documents about not talking about the kids and telling the teachers of the kids had said anything to use. Then we came back and made posters. I put colorful writing because kids like color. I also put pictures of my dog because kids like animals.
